At the closing banquet of the Texas State Genealogical Society’s 2015 Family History Conference on October 31, the Dallas Genealogical Society was honored with two awards.

  • First Place – Web site for a Partner Society.  “The purpose… is to promote genealogy and history on the world wide web, sharing information and servicing our global communities; …criteria will include web site design, navigation, contents, and customization.”
  • Volunteer of the Year = DGS President Tony Hanson. Judging criteria include genealogical or historical research and service to the society, the community, and the local or genealogical library.

DGS congratulates our Webmaster Todd DeDecker on the Web Site Award; we are very grateful for the tremendous amount of time, effort and skill that was put forth to achieve this by Todd and several others in the Society.

It is a pleasure to see that our President’s dedication and service to DGS has been recognized at the state level with this Volunteer of the Year honor.

The first place award in the Web site category includes a $100 gift to DGS. The Volunteer of the Year award includes a $50 gift to the winner plus $50 to the partner society who nominated the recipient.

You can view images of these (and previous awards) on our ‘Awards Received‘ page.
